FDA HEALTH LABELING REFORM?

BUT COLLOIDAL MINERALS and SILVER UNDER ATTACK!

The FDA on 12/18/02 issued an announcement that they would be reforming from their prior stringent stand against foods and supplements containing any medical claims and allow "qualified health claims", as we quote below:

"The Consumer Health Information for Better Nutrition initiative is designed to foster two complementary goals concerning the labeling of food and dietary supplements: to encourage makers of conventional foods and dietary supplements to make accurate, science-based claims about the health benefits of their products, and to help eliminate bogus labeling claims by taking on those dietary supplement marketers who make false or misleading claims.

To meet the criteria for making a new, qualified claim on a conventional food, the manufacturer would need to provide a credible body of scientific data supporting the claim. The company would need to demonstrate, based on a fair review by scientific experts of the totality of information available, that the "weight of scientific evidence" supports the proposed claim.

All qualified health claims will require review by FDA before they may be used on the food label. In the enforcement action being announced today, FDA revealed that United States Marshals on Monday, December 16, 2002, seized approximately 3000 bottles, valued at more than $100,000, of EverCLR, a dietary supplement. EverCLR is marketed by Halo Supply Company of San Diego, Calif., as a "natural" treatment for viruses, including the herpes virus, and for "cold and flu protection."

None of these claims has been substantiated. In court documents , FDA charges that EverCLR is an unapproved and therefore illegal new drug because it is promoted to treat or prevent specific diseases and conditions. FDA also charges that EverCLR is misbranded because its labeling lacks adequate directions for use. In addition, FDA today released a report on its strengthened enforcement actions over the past year against dietary supplements that make false or misleading claims. FDA's report also outlines an aggressive enforcement strategy against such claims and outlines enforcement priorities so that manufacturers will be on notice."

For a claim that meets the "weight of the scientific evidence" standard, the agency would decline to initiate regulatory action, provided the claim is qualified by appropriate language so consumers are not misled as to the degree of scientific uncertainty that would still exist."

They then go on to explain in FDA's Dietary Supplement Enforcement Report great detail, of how they will be stepping up enforcement and have already targeted (6) areas or items, two of which are colloidal minerals and also specifically colloidal silver!

Health2us.com has long campaigned via web site education and email discussion groups, against the manufacture, promotion or use of what many refer to as "true colloidal silver", which by strict definition is particles of silver (raw metal) suspended in water.

Any biologist or naturalist will firmly state we can only utilize soluble minerals (ionic), not non-soluble (pure metallic or any non-soluble metallic salts), yet there seems to be a majority encouraging ingestion of raw metallic's (metallic colloids). There are also those suggesting we ingest silver salts (the practice of salting), which in most cases are also non-soluble, making both generally less then 1 part in 10,000 bio-available! As reported in a sea water study at: in a saline environment close to that of our blood, only 1 part in 16,000 of silver chloride is bio-available and that is after a few billions years of trying to get dissolved!

A few years ago it became such an uphill fight that we gave up on discussion groups and researched and published our study on the biologic transport of ions in the body, via metalloproteins* , to try and convert the many that still insisted on encouraging the manufacture and use of metallic colloids. Apparently again to no avail, as any web search for colloidal silver will show the strong camp of "metallic particle promoters" that still exists and seems to be growing. They can take much of the blame for the FDA's apparent need to clamp down on colloidal silver specifically and colloidal minerals in general.

* Metalloproteins comprise 30% of your body proteins and serve as a safe carrier
of highly reactive metallic ions, to all cells in your body! Our cells function
by ion transfer thru cell membranes, as in the constant production of ATP (energy)
via calcium and potassium ion exchanges. The heme in our blood is an iron ion
carrying metalloprotein.

It is our hope and prayer that this reversal by the FDA will take a logical approach to colloidal silver, like New Zealand has, allowing 10PPM* maximum and the right to show an approval number from their Health Board on the label, after tested and approved for use as a mineral supplement. Unfortunately the FDA has the power to outlaw the sale of ALL colloidal minerals!

* PPM means by weight so it includes any metallic, ionic and silver salts in the
sample, requiring expensive lab tests to measure the total!

Why do we still call it colloidal silver, if Cs is metallic?

Colloidal silver is a generic term from 80 odd years ago, as any suspended metal in water was called colloidal, be it raw metal, ions or salts, although the strict definition is metal particles in water. We are slowly switching to and hopefully educating the masses to be more specific as "ionic colloidal silver" which by strict definition can be clusters of ionic silver suspended in water (all metal ions cluster in fixed groups of up to 256, with silver at 12-16). Some anti-ion marketeers claim ions have no surface area and thus no - well, no nothing - as if they did not exist!

We have tried for years to educate others that metallic particles of all metals are risky and also lack bio-availability, making a very weak medicine, which then tends to be taken in excessive doses, and thus presents side effects!

In a saline environment like the blood, the usual metallic silver colloid, made by many, has less then 0.01% bio-availability and high PPM, giving HIGH RISK - SMALL GAIN!

The proper type for consumption is ionic, as found in any soluble mineral, and thus high bio-availability so tiny doses are effective, giving HIGH GAIN - SMALL RISK!

It is the accumulation and growth of large silver salt crystals that cause the grey/blue skin color when activated by UV light. I know (3) women that got a facial blue tint from excessive use of home made colloidal silver nasal sprays, estimated at over 100PPM metallic, based on its color, the fact they added salt and their time of operation in making it! (The typical (3) batteries and silver wire setup in salt enriched water)

Too much of anything in the hands of the uninformed is risky!

Did you know as few as four (4) Extra Strength Tylenol have caused death in adults! Just (11) will kill the average person and far less will kill drinkers or drug users. Hospitals report many deaths each year in children and adults!

From a medical site on "Acetaminophen Poisoning" - "the reason Acetaminophen is so toxic to the liver is that it rapidly depletes glutathione. Glutathione is used up in the metabolism of many drugs, foods, environmental toxins, etc. So therefore, it is possible for someone who is exposed to another substance that uses glutathione to have a hepatotoxic reaction to a relatively small dose of Acetaminophen."

  • A relatively limited overdose of iron can kill you but without it you die!
  • Too much copper promotes rapid cancer growth while too little is dangerous!
  • Even a few quarts of water taken too quickly can cause flooding of the lungs and death, as seen in Collage drinking contests - one case was from sweet apple cider!

Risk abounds in life but do not fear turning blue (Argyria) from colloidal silver (unless you had been suckered into taking high PPM non-ionic solutions) but recognize that there are both good and useless forms of colloidal silver! Our bodies simply can not utilize raw metals, only the soluble or ionic form of minerals!

Try 8 ounces of premium Ionic Colloidal Silver for just $15 delivered via Priority Air!

Will we get rich selling this? NO but maybe you will see the amazing benefits of properly manufactured Ionic Colloidal Silver and buy our Collgen2 Fully Automatic Generator some day! The uses are endless - just as a disinfectant: in the kitchen, nursery, stored water, leftover foods, vegetable wash, pools, spas, fruit trees, vegetable plants, etc.

Many scientific studies have shown as little as 50 parts per billion of ionic Cs can control pathogens in drinking water or public swimming pools, better then dangerous chlorine and with a longer residual effect!
